Which State Has the Best High School Track?
Many of the world’s greatest sprinters, long-distance runners, throwers, and jumpers started their careers in a high school track program.
Whether an event is listed as an NFHS record, T&FN record, or another standard, it must have been completed at competitions the state affiliate of the National Federation of High School Associations sanctions.
As the high school track season begins, there’s a lot of talks about which state has the best high school track. Many factors go into this question, including how much talent each state produces, how many high school track programs exist, and how well each state develops its athletes.

When it comes to high school track, Ohio has a long tradition of excellence. Ohio has won more state titles than any other state in the country.
Several schools have been associated with these accolades, but one stands out. This is Central Catholic High School, located in Toledo.
This coed college preparatory school serves students in grades nine through 12. It offers academic education, including English, math, foreign languages, science, and social studies.
The school also provides extracurricular activities such as sports, music, and drama. Its musical program includes Glee Club, Freshmen Mixed Chorus, Irish Marching Band, Concert Band, and Pit Orchestra.
Girls have been competing in the state track meet since 1975, and it was a separate championship for them for the first few years. However, the meet was held on the same day as the boys’ championship for over 20 years.
Emmett Johnson, the Academy of Holy Angels running back, is a star in the making. He has the talent, the speed, and the savvy to be a top 10 back in the country come 2020.

The school has an excellent reputation for academics, community, and athletics. They have an excellent track record and are known for producing some of the state’s top athletes.

Hays High School is a coeducational public secondary school operated by Unified School District 489. It has various music programs such as band, orchestra, and vocal classes. Its premier choral ensemble, the “Chamber Singers,” has performed at community events and Disney World since the 1960s.
KU’s track and field program has a long tradition of producing talented athletes. In recent years, Hays has coached eight Big 12 champions, one national champion, five First Team All-Americans, and 10 Second Team All-Americans.
Hays’ top vaulters have also been instrumental in setting Kansas records and capturing conference titles. In 2007 alone, junior Sultanova set the women’s Big 12 pole vault record while freshman Scott tied it in the outdoor season. Moreover, Hays coached four vaulters over the 18-foot barrier in the same season for the first time, all in the same meet (Rock Chalk Classic).
